Unannounced Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) Home Visit Policy Repealed for STAR Kids

August 12, 2021

Reminder

The Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) continues to suspend the requirements to conduct unannounced Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) home visits to verify attendance care. This is found in the STAR Kids contract Section 8.1.40.2, Attachment B-1.

Our contracts currently require EVV in the provision of attendant care services. The EVV system includes:

  • Controls requiring that each EVV claim matches an EVV visit transaction before the claim is paid.
  • Our use of EVV for attendant care claims provides adequate system controls via the EVV aggregator to validate services are rendered and billed correctly.

Coming changes

Until further notice the requirement for unannounced EVV home visit will remain until HHSC has the opportunity to amend the current contract language.
