Roll-Out Schedule for Provider Enrollment and Management System (PEMS)

Effective Sept. 1, 2021 providers will participate in a soft launch of PEMS based on provider interest for the following programs:

  • Children with Special Health Care Needs- Family Support Services (CSHCN-FSS)
  • Kidney Health Care (KHC)
  • Long-term services and supports (LTSS)

Starting Sept. to Nov. 2021, Texas Medicaid & Healthcare Partnership (TMHP) will begin testing PEMS process in a test environment to practice enrollment and record management task for:

  • Acute Care and long-term care providers

By Dec. 13, 2021, all providers will use PEMS. Prior to implementation HHSC and TMHP will post the upcoming changes, including provider training and resources.

About PEMS
PEMS will remove the requirement of the use of paper forms and will automate and streamline the National Provider Identifier (NPI) enrollment.

The new system will be the single tool for:

  • Enrollment
  • Re-Enrollment
  • Revalidation
  • Maintenance requests (maintaining/updating provider enrolment record information).

Once implemented, PEMS will replace both Provider Enrollment on the Portal (PEP) and the Provider Information Management System (PIMS).
